We are very proud of our bi-monthly Newsletter and all of the hard work and long hours from several of our member volunteers to bring you news of events and activities at the Center. Despite the best efforts of our group of proofreaders, mistakes are sometimes noticed once the newsletter is printed, collated, folded, taped, labeled, and mailed. At this point, of course, it's too late for us to do anything about it. Now, with our new web site, we can post on this page any updates, corrections, or new items that came up after the newsletter went to the printer. With your Newsletter, which can be viewed, downloaded, or printed from the web site, and the updates on this page, you will always have the most current and correct information. As always, if you notice something in the Newsletter that needs to be updated or clarified here, please let Debbie know. Your help is always appreciated.

On page 11 is a description of the AARP Driver Safety Program. The dates and times are correct as listed, but the $5 fee is a special offer from AARP and is available only to current or retired educators and school personnel who take their Driver Safety Program courses in July or August. The regular costs for both the full, two-day program and the 4-hour refresher class are $14, or $12 for current AARP members. There is an additional donation of $2 for lunch; when you register for the program indicate that you want a lunch. The menu for July is available from the Lunch tab at the top of the page, but August menus are not yet available. We apologize for the confusion, but hope you are able to call or visit the Center to register for these valuable programs.
On page 7, the Alaska Cruise Tour trip has been cancelled.
Annual Membership dues for 2012 were due by the end of June, and while this notice was included in the Newsletter we felt it was important enough to include here as well. Members who have not renewed (and paid) by July 1 will be deleted from the Membership files, will no longer receive the Newsletter, and will no longer have Member benefits at the Center. Please stop by the Center before the holiday with cash or check for your $10 annual dues. It's a bargain!
Regarding the "Grub Steaks" raffle, please note that the raffle tickets indicate the drawing will be held on Sunday, October 9th. This should read TuesdayOctober 9th.
Updates to the March/April 2012 Newsletter
The last page of the newsletter lists two dates in April when the Center will be closed: April 6 for Good Friday and April 24 for Primary Election Day, but the calendar lists activities on those days. The online Calendar also lists the Center as closed on those days. The Center WILL BE CLOSED on those days, and all activities, including lunch, will be cancelled.
Blood Pressure Screening will now be available only on the second Wednesday of each month, from 10:00 - 11:30. There is no charge, no appointments are necessary, and screenings are available to members and the public.
There are several exciting new trips listed on the online Calendar and the Listing page available from the Trips button at the top of the page. These Trips are in cooperation with Hagey Tours. There is no minimum number of bookings through the Center, and we receive a commission from Hagey for every booking. So take a look at the opportunities, and invite a friend to book through us and travel with you. See Sara for more information or to book your trip.
Some updates have been made to the Lunch Menus.
The dates for the Reppert's Candy fundraiser are reversed on the order form from the item in the Newsletter. The dates listed in the Newsletter are correct: orders are due by March 26th, and delivery to the Center will be on April 3rd.
There is additional information on the Healthy Steps program in the listing on the online Calendar. This is a great program on preventing falls (sorry, if you attended previously you are not eligible to attend again) and to raise money for the Center (we get a $50 donation from the state for every participant!). The program is open to members and the public, so bring a friend!
Haircuts are available by appointment from 9-11 am on the 3rd Thursday of the month. Check out Bea (our bingo caller and Receptionist) to see what a nice job Dawn does!
